Ο Bernard Bosanquet (1848-1923) ήταν ένας από τους πιο σημαντικούς Βρετανούς Ιδεαλιστές φιλοσόφους. Συγγραφέας πολλών βιβλίων και άρθρων τα οποία καλύπτουν όλους τους τομείς της φιλοσοφίας, ο Bosanquet ανέπτυξε μια ολιστική προσέγγιση στο πολιτικό φαινόμενο εξετάζοντας και τις μεταφυσικές, ηθικές και αισθητικές διαστάσεις της κοινωνικής και πολιτικής ζωής. Συνεχίζοντας τη φιλοσοφική παράδοση του Πλάτωνα, του Αριστοτέλη, και του Χέγκελ, υποστήριξε τη σύνδεση ηθικής και πολιτικής, και μίλησε για τη σχέση ατομικής αυτοπραγμάτωσης και κοινού καλού. Aspects of the Political Philosophy of the British Idealist Philosopher Bernard Bosanquet
Bernard Bosanquet (1848-1923) was one of the most important British Idealist philosophers. Author of numerous books which cover topics from logic, metaphysics and aesthetics to ethics, religion and political philosophy, and of more than a hundred articles and book reviews, Bosanquet developed a holistic approach to socio-political theorization, defended the moral view of politics, society and the state, and reflected on the relation between individual self-realization and the common good. In this talk, which is suitable for both scholars and a more general audience, we will discuss central themes from Bosanquet’s philosophy such as the metaphysics of the self, the idea of ethical citizenship, and the ethical system of the state.
Η Δρ Σταματούλα Παναγάκου είναι Επισκέπτρια Ερευνήτρια στο Τμήμα Κοινωνικών και Πολιτικών Επιστημών του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου. Είναι Αριστούχος Απόφοιτος του Τμήματος Πολιτικής Επιστήμης και Δημόσιας Διοίκησης του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών. Είναι κάτοχος Μάστερ στην Πολιτική Φιλοσοφία και Διδακτορικού Διπλώματος στις Πολιτικές Επιστήμες από το Πανεπιστήμιο της Υόρκης στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο. Έχει τιμηθεί από τη Βρετανική Εταιρεία Πολιτικής Επιστήμης με το Βραβείο Jenny Lee Prize for Outstanding Teaching και έχει βραβευτεί στον διαγωνισμό Political Studies Association Specialist Groups Speaker Competition. Τα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα περιλαμβάνουν τη φιλοσοφία των Βρετανών Ιδεαλιστών, την αρχαία Ελληνική πολιτική σκέψη, τη φεμινιστική θεωρία, και την ιστορία της πολιτικής σκέψης. Άρθρα της έχουν δημοσιευτεί σε διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά όπως The British Journal of Politics & International Relations, European Journal of Political Theory, Political Studies Review, Collingwood and British Idealism Studies, Journal of Moral Philosophy, British Journal for the History of Philosophy, Journal of Educational Thought, και Bradley Studies. Έχει εκδώσει δύο φιλοσοφικούς τόμους: James Connelly & Stamatoula Panagakou (eds.), Anglo-American Idealism: Thinkers and Ideas (Oxford: Peter Lang, 2010) και W. J. Mander & Stamatoula Panagakou (eds.), British Idealism and the Concept of the Self (London: Palgrave Macmillan, 2016).
Dr Stamatoula Panagakou is a Visiting Researcher in the Department of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Cyprus and an award-winning political scientist and political philosopher. She holds a DPhil in Politics and an MA in Political Philosophy from the University of York in the UK, and a BA in Political Science and Public Administration from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Greece. She is the winner of the PSA Jenny Lee Prize 2018 for Outstanding Teaching and of the Political Studies Association 2015 Specialist Groups Speaker Competition. Her research interests include the philosophy of the British Idealists, ancient Greek political thought, feminism, and intellectual history. She has published articles in such journals as The British Journal of Politics & International Relations, European Journal of Political Theory, Political Studies Review, Collingwood and British Idealism Studies, Journal of Moral Philosophy, British Journal for the History of Philosophy, Journal of Educational Thought, and Bradley Studies. She is co-editor (with James Connelly) of Anglo-American Idealism: Thinkers and Ideas (Oxford: Peter Lang, 2010), and (with W. J.
